“When Nothing Else is Working, You Haven’t Seen Heather”
Heather was the first birth worker to tell me about zinc, magnesium, and the protein requirements of breastfeeding – and it changed my life! The journey towards healing that came after wouldn’t have started if she wasn’t there at the start. Like she says, the hard cases get sent to her – and I was a hard to crack one! I’m eternally grateful she was there to set me on my path to healing. Akasha – Victoria
Relentless pubic pain
After the last pregnancy with crippling pubic pain I am there again with ‘lightning crotch.’ After Heather’s extensive support, her student working with me and finally her seeing me – JUST ONCE all is so much better! I can live again – it has been months since I have been able to stand up, and to move this way. Camy
Standing true
I’ve always loved watching your fearlessness in doing your thing. You’re an incredible woman. I remember you helping me bring Jarrah on when I was almost 3 weeks “overdue” and then I got the “do you want a dead baby” question from the hospital. You warned me to ignore. Marion
Support when needed
“I was six months pregnant when I saw Heather’s “What Dads Can Do” book in a bookshop. It was exactly the kind of information I’d been looking for, but, when I saw the price, I thought “can I afford this?” I then thought – “can I afford not to?” I was 39 years old, and this was my first and possibly last baby, and I wanted to make the birth experience as good as possible. This book has all that I had been looking for, and not found anywhere else. As I bought it, I can now say it was worth every cent. My husband wasn’t going to be at the birth, so my friend and I read the book, watched the DVD and followed the steps as outlined. We did the massage sequence once weekly, until baby arrived. At 37 weeks, we found that baby was breech.
Following Heather’s recipe my friend and husband followed the steps outlined, and baby turned. At 40 weeks and 4 days, I went into labour and 12 hours later, without medical pain relief, I birthed a healthy daughter, 8lbs 9 oz. I wouldn’t change anything about my birthing experience, and I attribute that largely to the knowledge and preparation given to me through Heather’s very useful birth preparation tools. – Liz, NZ
Written as a birthing mum rather than as an acupuncturist
“The handouts on Heather’s finger tips page are really supportive tools for birthing partners and reassuring for birthing mums to know that partners have knowledge and tools that will help their birthing process – concise, easy-to-follow, and diagrams with great visual reminders have been perfect for my husband to glance at, revise and practice leading up to our birth. Having knowledge of such is empowering and supportive. During our lead-up to birth, in this interesting time of being in a ‘bubble’ with the COVID lockdown, this is providing huge support as a tool since we can’t see our usual practitioners for hands-on support work – such resources are health in your hands! I feel blessed to have this knowledge and most especially at this particular time! Shelly
